The tour lasts approximately 1 hour 10 minutes and covers a gentle walking route through York’s historic streets. We stroll at a leisurely pace, but please note that some streets are cobbled and uneven, so comfortable footwear is recommended.
We meet at the forgotten Davygate Graveyard, opposite Cooplands on Davygate (YO1 8RJ). Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to check in. The tour finishes at the famous Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma Gate Street Sign (YO1 7NT).
Due to the uneven and cobbled streets and the pace of the tour, it is not recommended for children under 8 or people with certain mobility impairments. If you’re unsure, feel free to contact us beforehand to discuss your needs.
This is an outdoor walking tour, so we don’t enter York Minster or other buildings. However, your guide will share fascinating stories and point out features of these iconic sites as we pass them.
The tour runs in all weather conditions, come rain or shine! Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring an umbrella or waterproof clothing if needed.

We recommend booking in advance to guarantee your spot, as group sizes are limited to a maximum of 30 people. You can book online at historicalgemstour.com or contact us directly.
