What To Expect

Historical Exploration: Wander through Edinburgh’s cobbled streets and closes, uncovering hidden gems and tales of the city’s past with a knowledgeable character guide.

A ‘Wee Taste Experience’ at MacKays On The Mile:

Sit down for a warm welcome and experience a special stop at the welcoming MacKays On The Mile, where you’ll get the chance to investigate and savour:
  • A tower-shaped taster of traditional Scottish haggis fritter on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes and mashed neeps with a whisky cream sauce. This can be made vegetarian.
  • A dram of Glenlivet – authentic, warming Scottish whisky.
Served at: MacKays On The Mile, 223 Canongate, EH8 8BJ.

Sweet Scottish Treats:

Enjoy a taster of traditional handmade Tablet and Scottish fudge at the renowned Fudge House. Pop in and see how the fudge is made behind the scenes, plus spend some time browsing the selection of fudges on offer. A sweet tooth interrogation no less!

Served at: The Fudge House, 197 Canongate, EH8 8BN.

The tour is approximately 2 hours long, covering Edinburgh’s cobbled streets, closes, and courtyards. It’s a steady walking pace, but there are some uneven and steep sections, so we recommend comfortable shoes and reasonable fitness.

We meet outside Caffé Nero, opposite the Mercat Cross by the statue of Adam Smith (EH1 1RF). Please arrive at least 5–10 minutes early to check in. 

Due to the nature of Edinburgh’s streets and the content of the tour, it is not suitable for children or for people with mobility impairments. If you’d like to discuss your specific needs, feel free to contact us.

Yes! Your ticket includes:

A tower-shaped taster of traditional Scottish haggis fritter on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes and mashed neeps, served with a whisky cream sauce (this can be made vegetarian), plus a dram of Glenlivet whisky at MacKays On The Mile. 

All other drinks or purchases are optional extras.

The tour runs in all weather conditions, come rain or shine! Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring an umbrella or waterproof clothing if needed.
